Salt Lake City’s first Innovation Team is up and running, working to make the City more efficient, nimble and cohesive. Announced by Mayor Erin Mendenhall in her State of the City address in January, the Innovation Team is focused on streamlining and implementing major projects that promise to simplify the City’s internal and public-facing processes. The Community & Neighborhoods Department hired a Building Services and Economic Development Coordinator to serve as a single-point-of-contact for customers needing assistance navigating the permitting processes. The City also kicked off the Development Advisor Forum, which facilitates partnerships between the City and developers and contractors in the construction industry.

IN PROGRESS: Continue building out digital equity infrastructure and policy, particularly to build on the work the Youth & Family team is doing to support online learning.
