2021 Goals
COMPLETE: Launch the Innovation Department to drive projects that make city government more nimble, efficient, and cohesive.

Salt Lake City’s first Innovation Team is up and running, working to make the City more efficient, nimble and cohesive. Announced by Mayor Erin Mendenhall in her State of the City address in January, the Innovation Team is focused on streamlining and implementing major projects that promise to simplify the City’s internal and public-facing processes. COMPLETE: Use projects and initiatives to build new cross-departmental teams, identify hidden human talent, realign resources, and eliminate outdated and ineffective functions
COMPLETE: Improve building permitting processes and accessibility by implementing a single point-of-contact concierge model for developers.
